Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management supports the Leader approach for rural development with 15 million dinars in 2014
On 30th of January, Round table was organized under the project "Support to Civil Society in Public Administration IPA II rural development with a focus on measure of 202" funded by the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia under the EU Programme "Support to Civil Society in 2012" and the Office for cooperation with the civil society of the Republic of Serbia. The purpose of the roundtable was to define a framework for dialogue between civil society and the public sector in the field of rural development.
Attendees were addressed by Ms. Ivana Stefanovic Ristin, Project Manager, Mr. Karl - Heinz Vogel, Attaché for Agriculture and Rural Development in the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Dragan Mirković, Head of Rural Development at the Ministry of agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. Over 38 representatives of potential Local Action Groups and civil society representatives from all over Serbia attended the meeting.
Ivana Stefanovic Ristin presented the project and said: "It is my great pleasure to announce that the Government has adopted a decree by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has allocated 15 million dinars to support Leader measures and local action groups." The attendees were addressed by Mr. Vogel who stressed the importance of the project and said that the European Union will continue to support the Leader measure and local action groups. Mr. Mirković presented the plan for the Rural Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, and pointed out that the Ministry is very pleased to have active civil society as as future partners in the implementation of rural development policy.
Representatives of civil society and Local Action Groups (LAG) were very active in asking questions and giving suggestions for further cooperation between the Ministry and civil society, in regards to the processes of preparation and implementation of the IPARD programme, focusing on "Leader measure" in rural development.
